The Premise of the Tea Party....Racism Disguised as Political Movement or Freedom of Speech to Right the Wrongs of Government
I, like so many others, have heard but, has chosen, to ignore this political uprising called the Tea Party. Anything that is remotely connected to Sarah Palin suggests upheaval to me. During the elections, Governor Sarah Palin demonstrated how divisive and controversial she really is. I believe in freedom of speech but as elected officials, they are held to a higher ethical and moral responsibility. At many of their rallies, Governor Palin as well as, maverick Senator John McCann stood by and promoted as well as incited crowds to shout out racial epithets regarding, then, Senator Barack Obama. There were no concerted efforts to have an all inclusive GOP party that embodied cross segments of different races that represents our great country, the United States of America.
Now, today, we have Sarah Palin igniting and causing more division under the ideology of the original premise of the Tea Party of 1773. The revolt of the people in 1773 was based on the separation from Britain and establishing political freedom for the people of the United States. The objection then was who was taxing and how they were being taxed. The monopoly the British Parliament had on us was suffocating. So today, we have a group of wayward thinking people protesting and demanding a change and accountability of the government. Where were these people when President Bush sent our troops to look for the Weapons Of Mass Destruction? Now, to justify and to cover the grievous lies that were told to the American people about the WMD, we are constantly reminded of the honorable men and women who gave of their lives to establish democracy and to rid the people of Iraq of Saddam Hussein. Well people that was never our mission of completion.
To date, 4,282 American soldiers are reported dead and 30,182 American soldiers wounded. I don't know about you but, if there ever was a time in history to overthrow the presiding President, it was then. After years under the Bush administration we experienced the extreme of government for sale for the right price, we witnessed Wall Street run a muck, and a lack of government control with no check and balance that led to the crumble of the housing market. These years of unanswered spending and greed that have left citizens and this country economically bankrupt as well as hundreds of thousands of jobs loss and unemployment at record highs and now you want to right the wrongs of the government.
November 2008, we the people of the United States of America decided there needed to be a change in government and elected President Barack Obama. I am offended that this muse called the Tea Party would think that I or anyone else could be convinced that this President has done anything so reprehensible or detrimental to the overall welfare of our country. President Barack Obama has done what no other president has been able to do which is pass a health care bill that will entitle everyone to health care. Will this cause added burden to our already overburdened deficit, yes. The GOP was given a chance to add, tweak and to improve on the bill but, they decided to sabotage any and all efforts that President Obama and the Democrats had implemented.
The other tale of woe from the current Tea Party is the increased taxing for the wealthy. For years, this group of privileged people have dodged the bullet of higher taxes. This bone of contention only further separates the I have’s and the I don’ts. Big corporations and the more affluent have been given tax breaks for years with the implication that their tax breaks would some how trickle down to the common man. Well that theory has not worked very well. Because the rich got richer and those who don’t have got nothing.
People, knowledge is power and as long as we continue to stand for nothing we will fall for anything. On May 9th, 2010, Louis Farrakhan will be on TV One talking about the Tea Party and the true meaning behind it. Join Khalil Entertainment afterwards for a live blog to discuss the Tea Party and what it means to us and President Barack Obama.
